ProMinent Sigma/ 2 Pumps

ProMinent® Sigma/ 2 Pumps

ProMinent® Sigma/ 2 basic

Durable design and simple operation
The choice for simple, metering pump applications. The ProMinent® Sigma/2 Basic pumps may be operated manually by adjusting the stroke length knob (displacement per stroke) at a constant stroke frequency using a constant speed motor. Automatic control of displacement per stroke via analog (4-20mA) signal is possible with optional motorized stroke positioning systems.

The ProMinent® Sigma/2 Basic is a mechanically-actuated diaphragm metering pump capable of flows up to 111 gph (420 l/h) and pressures to 174 psi (12 bar). The Sigma is controlled by stroke length adjustment from 30-100% and the frequency is controlled by a 56-C AC or DC motor.

Applications

  • Proportional chemical addition in water treatment (e.g. Sodium Hypochlorite for drinking water disinfection)
  • Measurement-dependent chemical addition (e.g. acid and caustic metering for pH neutralization in wastewater treatment)
  • Time-controlled chemical addition in cooling water circuits

Features and benefits

  • Universally compatible PVDF liquid ends
  • Corrosion-resistant outer housing for protection against aggressive chemicals
  • Convex diaphragm consisting of a Teflon face and steel inner core providing durability and resistance against most chemicals
  • Liquid end is physically separated from drive end to ensure that in the event of diaphragm failure, no liquid can pass into the mechanical drive
  • Reproducible metering accuracy at defined conditions and correct installation better than ±2 %
  • Stroke-length adjustment: manually (optionally with stroke positioning drive or with stroke control drive).

Sigma/ 2 basic motors
The Sigma/2 microprocessor controlled metering pump (S2Ca) is supplied with an integral TEFC
motor. The Sigma basic version (S2Ba) is suitable for simple metering pump applications. The pump
may be operated manually by adjusting the stroke length knob (displacement per stroke). Automatic
control of displacement per stroke via a 4-20 mA analog signal is possible with an optional
servomotor.

Sigma/2 Metering Pumps are also available in microprocessor based control versions.

ProMinent® Sigma/ 2 control

New Technology, Durable Design
The ProMinent® Sigma/ 2 microprocessor controlled metering pumps are programmable and display informative data for monitoring, recording, and tracking. Functions include digital setting of stroke frequency, digital stroke length adjustment, integral variable speed and access codes. Displays include flow rate (gph or l/h) and totalized flow (gallons or liters), cumulative stroke count, and stroke length adjustment. Options include remote monitoring, diagnostics, control (via fieldbus, analog, pulse and/or timer), access codes, fault/pacing relays, mA analog output, and flow monitoring. Control version pumps are supplied with an intergral TEFC motor.

The ProMinent® Sigma/2 Control is a mechanically-actuated diaphragm metering pump capable of flow rate from 15.9 to 92.5 gph (60 – 350 l/h) at 60 Hz operation.

Features and benefits

  • Universally compatible PVDF liquid ends
  • Microprocessor control: optimum combination of variable AC frequency combined with digital stroking frequency, ensures exact metering even in the lower minimum range due to individual stroke control.
  • The individual pump functions are simply adjusted using the five programming keys.
  • A large backlit LCD indicates the current operating status.
  • 3-LED-function as operation indicators, alarm indicator and fault indicator
  • Problem-free connection to complex process control systems with the option of PROFIBUS®-DP interface.
  • Control via contact or analogue signals (e.g. 0/4-20 mA)
  • On demand, integration of 2-week-process timer. The intelligent alternative.

Applications

  • Proportional chemical addition in water treatment (e.g. Sodium Hypochlorite for drinking water disinfection)
  • Measurement-dependent chemical addition (e.g. acid and caustic metering for pH neutralization in wastewater treatment)
  • Time-controlled chemical addition in cooling water circuits
  • Pulse-controlled metering from variable flow meters

Sigma/ 2 control type
The ProMinent® Sigma microprocessor version (standard IP 65) allows rapid and reliable adjustment to fluctuating metering requirements.

The controller has the same control panel as the ProMinent® gamma/L metering pump.

The microprocessor controller of the Sigma pumps, featuring the optimum combination of variable AC frequency combined with digital stroking frequency, ensures exact metering even in the lower minimum range due to individual stoke control.

The individual pump functions are simply adjusted using the five programming keys. A backlit LCD indicates the current operating status, LEDs function as operation or fault indicators and fault indicator or pacing relays monitor the pump function.

Central or decentral adjustment is possible with PROFIBUS® and/or an integrated process timer.
